Yahoo strikes deals with UK publishers to distribute their news content

The participating publishers – the Guardian, the Telegraph, ESi Media, and Hearst UK – will have their news content distributed through Yahoo’s News Feed in the UK, the US, Canada, India and Singapore, Digiday reported.

Publishers are able to specify which articles and videos they want to share with Yahoo, which will run ads within the articles through its advertising product Gemini. Participating publishers get a share of advertising revenue, although the percentage was not revealed.

According to the Drum, Yahoo’s News Feed includes both editorial judgement and algorithmic ranking, distinguishing it from purely algorithm-based platforms such as Facebook and Google.
