Picked by president Trump, Pai has during his first days as the chairman of FCC undertaken several actions that show FCC would follow Trump’s commitment to unwind government regulations, the New York Times reported. A major target will be net neutrality: Pai has already closed an investigation into zero-rating services.
Pai has also said he disagrees with the classification of broadband as utility, a move that gave legal foundation for net neutrality rules, although he hasn't yet clarified how he'd proceed to overhaul the classification.
Meanwhile, US Senate Democrats have declared they would fight to maintain net neutrality rules, and called on people to make their voices heard on the issue, Ars Techinca reported.
