Facebook’s Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg published yesterday a post in his page urging Brazilians to participate today in the gathering organized for 6pm in front of the Congress in Brasilia and hosted by the Internet Freedom Caucus. The event is aimed at presenting legislation that would prevent future judicial actions from resulting in a ban of internet services.
Zuckerberg also asked users to sign an online petition that declares the court order to shutdown WhatsApp “illegal, unconstitutional and prohibited by the Marco Civil do Internet”. The petition also denounces a law on cyber crime under discussion at the Brazilian Congress that would officially enable websites and internet services blocking.
