Digital Media Asia: Facebook driving you coconuts?

From a small blog set up in an apartment in Bangkok in 2011, to an extensive network of sites giving a unique take on city life with a dash of humour, Coconuts Media, has sure come a long way.

The company's founder and managing director Byron Perry spoke at Digital Media Asia 2013 in Kuala Lumpur Tuesday afternoon.

The topic: Which social networks are worth your time? If you weren't at the event, here's a little something for you. The San Francisco Bay Area native shared three tips on best practices for driving traffic on Facebook.

  • Make sure you have awesome photos. Visuals determine the virality of a post more than any other factor.
  • Try to create a ‘curiosity gap’ with your words. Don’t let the cat out of the bag with your tease when you post a link on Facebook.
  • There’s no substitute for great stories.
