Learnings from Digital Media Europe: Technology drives business

Digital Media Europe in London was a great event. Why?

First of all, because the mood was fantastic!

You could feel that there are publishers out there that embrace the opportunities of great quality journalism, on whatever platform that might be provided. Arthur Sulzberger, publisher of the New York Times: "Quality journalism will attract a quality audience which will attract the advertisers." As importantly, it was obvious that technology plays a vital role in the new media landscape.

Publishers have access to user data like never before - innovative publishers are using that data to constantly create inspiring products for their readers. This opens up great opportunities for vendors of systems and solutions to publish news on all channels. "There are fundamental changes going on in many areas as a result of new technologies", as Andrew Miller, CEO of the Guardian Media Group put it.
